This worked perfect.

The only thing I did different, is after I swapped the IDE cable over I then booted xboxhdm and built the new C partition.

This was for a xbox that was modded, but the chip burned out about a year ago and was left broken this entire time. I was able to hotswap the HD (300 gig), then softmod it and install XBMC as the main dash.. I changed over to a softmod that uses only the F partition for most of the drive and still have the 70 games that where on the HD prior to the chip giving out..

This is the best way to go, I recommend this hotswap method..
