How to Softmod your Xbox with SID 4.0

You don't need a router to softmod your xbox just the gamesave and game

Hey guys,im new to this and just wanted to verify if this is supposed to happen.
When i boot up my xbox (after soft modding it through this tutorial) the light is red.But if i put in halo 2 or another game the light is green,but when i eject the game it goes to the normal xbox dashboard. Is this suppose to happen?

Yes it is

When the light is red that means your softmodded stuff is loaded, don't try to play live
If it's green, then yes you're OK to play games normally on live, you won't get banned or anything

gots a question ..... k when i bought my xbox i bought it from blockbuster 59.99$ so yeh i boot up my box it says at the bottom XECUTER2 and theres no frickin mod chip in there so im thinkin wtf and also when i use splintercell to mod my box when i load "linux" on the saved game files it restarts the game and does NOT go to the soft mod screen and yes it is the original version of splinter cell

If it says X2, that means you have a chip in there...I've never heard of a system saying that without having a chip in it.

Be sure you put the 2 gamesaves on your Xbox to load linux.

well i opened it up looked in there i think its a 1.1 box not sure but NO MODCHIP im like WTF is this why i cant mod my box i mean i could take pictures and post em but im confused

i just recenly put sid5.0 not 5.01 and i think it renamed my xboxlive dash to ms dash because i press ms dash gets error screen click xbox live screen goes to ms dash so i unistalled it and installed 4.0 just know its good but when i go to the ms dash and click xbox live i get a error screen no number can somebody send ma a xboxlive dash tht would be great i would give thanks.

The only way you can get to the xbl (Buy Cheap XBL Codes) dash is if you install it with a dual boot or tri boot. I'm not sure if SID has that feature but I know Krayzies does...

i did do dual boot and it does go to the ms dash but when i modded with 5.0 i loaded halo2 click xbox live it says it needed to be updated for some reason and i press ok and then it booted a screen with tht error screen can i just get a copy of the live dash i think tht the problem it should be in the c folder ill just transfer it there o yea I did softrmod with ndure and i press removed softmod and it froze when it said something like e/ack/trainer so i though ill just removed the folders tht dont need to be there and press removed it finally worked when to xbox live and it was there so im like ok i made a new account with a 2month and resoftmodded with ndure and when i press basic install after i do everything it goes but in like 4 seconds it says batch prosees failed eroor 112 so i jts decided to softmod with 5,0 heard it had bugs unsoftmodded it but before i went to the xboxlive and gave me anerror screen so i removed tht then i softmodded with 4.0 and still have no xboxlive dash so can u dsend me a copy of ur much thanks

No, you didn't understand what I said. Dual boot or tri boot TO THE xbl (Buy Cheap XBL Codes) DASH. I don't think that's a SID option...maybe in 5.

Remove your softmod. Update xbl (Buy Cheap XBL Codes), reinstall softmod.

know i cant boot to the ms dash if i press the big button it goes to the writing eroor but if i fo to file explorer i can get the ms dash heres the vid YouTube - my softmod gone kind of bad

2 Questions please:

1) What it my best softmod option if I careless about xbox live?
2) Will I have any problems once soft modded chaning over to XBMC as the dash?

I wouldn't make XBMC your default dash. UnleashX or Avalaunch is HIGHLY recommended and just use XBMC as an app.

Hello, I posted a question in Afterdawn and then noticed that you moved on elsewhere. I have a question regarding this soft mod tutorial. I get to step 14 but the tray doesn't pull all the way out and when I shut off and on all I get is a blank screen after the MS intro. Please let me know if you need any additional info in order to figure out the problem. Thank you.

Did you pull out your disc after you go to the black screen? If so, turn off the Xbox and restart using the power button. If you get the same thing, put the disc in and uninstall the softmod and try over.
