Mechassault Softmod Tutorial!

Get the SID 3.0 files from the SOFTMOD FILES section!

<span style="color:red"><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%">Mechassault Softmod</span></span>

This is what the game should look like that you need to use (notice it's not Platinum Hits):

Also, this is for the n00bs that have no idea whats going on. <span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><span style="color:yellow">You will need Action Replay!!!</span></span> If you do not know what it is CLICK HERE.

<span style="color:red">Step #1</span> - Copy the files in SID.007.MechAssault.v2.0.Xbox-Hq to your memory card using your Action Replay device.

<span style="color:red">Step #2</span> - Transfer the "gamesave" files (the SID files you just put on your memory card) to your Xbox. Go to the "Memory" screen from the main standard MS Dashboard. When you get into the memory menu, click on the memory card (prolly by pressing left). When you get into your memory card and find the file, you might have to press the right button on your d-pad to select the file and then choose copy.

<span style="color:red">Step #3</span> - Insert the game and power up your XBox console. From the main menu choose "Select Campaign" and then highlight "Run Linux". The information shown below should be visable to you when highlighting this. Press A to run the installer. If you donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t see this and canÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t run the installer, your version of Mechassault is a version that has been patched. Try to find another copy or get one of the other games.

<span style="color:red">Step #4</span> - Once the SoftMod Installer has booted up, I would <span style="color:orange">HIGHLY recommend</span> making a backup of your C Drive. Use the "<span style="color:green">Create MS Backup</span>" option to backup your C drive.

<span style="color:red">Step #5</span> - Select "Install Softmod" and install. Please note that the install deletes the MS Dash from your C Drive, which is why we backed it up.

<span style="color:red">Step #6</span> - WeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢re going to install the Evolution X dashboard, so choose "Install Evox" from the menu and press A to install the dash.

<span style="color:red">Step #7</span> - Remove the disc, shut down your XBox and then reboot. If all has gone as planned, your new Dashboard will boot and youÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ve officially modded your XBox. Remember, if you need to run the Softmod install again, just boot your XBox with the disc tray open.

<span style="color:red">Step #8</span> - Now is probably a good time to backup your newly Modded drive using the Softmod Installer. Reboot your machine with the tray open and load the installer. Choose "Create Mod Backup" from the list to create the backup.

Credits: The softmod process was from xboxsoftmods.com but I added a few of the unclear areas they had.

hey when i run linux my screen goes black and doesnt do anything else. wut does that mean?

well i have tryed many different game saves but now that i think about it more i think its my action replay that is messed up!

Well when did you buy your action replay? Does it say on the box what exclusive saves it has? Myne
says it has Exclusive save for Halo2 and that was about maybe a year ago so anything probably after that may not work.. Just asking.

Download my sid 3.0 files then retry this. I'm sure you are using an older version!

i think i have had my action replay for a couple of years lol so it prob got messed up sometime in between.

nope i have the correct version of MA. the serial number matches the correct serial number on www.xbox-linux.org

a quick Q for all, after the install, the box will not play dvd's. i've ckecked to make sure that most of the settings are correct and they seem to be. if anyone knows what i'm missing i would greatly appreiciate any response and thankx for your time

ok i am new at this too, i got the Action Replay and the mechassault so now im lost now for the part on copy the game mechassult (gamesave) and the (SID) file thing, please help me what to do or show me a (pic) to do on the parts (1,2 and 3) on please it will help me really much and thank you for helping me if you to do so.

I'll try to make pictures when I get home later today. I dont know why I havent made any up until this point...everyone gets VERY confused w/ it. I know I did. But in the mean time, if I dont put pics up or I take too long, all you have to do is have the folder open w/ your SID file in it, then go and open up your action replay (you must have your memory card already hooked up). Drag the file from your folder to the memory card side (far left) on the AR program.

ok thank you vary much for that. I do understand everything now but i can't download the SID file part like when i want to download it, it wont let me at all and i dont know what to put it under with the (browse) thats the onlt part in stuck on everything else i can do. Hey i loaded the sid and the installer loaded this time..I backed up the C drive but where the heck is the install softmod button..I uploaded this pic to show u i cant find the install soft mod button...

I uploaded it succesfully and went to the option "Run MS Dashboard".

It comes up with Please CAll Customer Support and the rest is in Japanese lettering. Then my light changes to red, then green, red, then green, etc.

You didnt patch your ms dash. Thats one thing we dont have in this tutorial cuz I've never tried it and I never saw it in any other tutorials. But you can try to go to the patch ms #### In the linux installer.

No, you dont enter the number...its the number of the ms dash. Load up the installer, and you will see PATCH MS (and then some numbers prolly). I forget the name of it exactlly, just look for the patch.
