Some things to know about modding H2V

There's currently no program out right now allowing you to mess around with tags ie. run fast jump high, shader swaps, etc... so no modding H2V. All you can do right now is create your own maps providing you have 3ds max and even then if you have 3ds max 9 there is no exporter which you need so stick with 3ds max 8 until someone makes one.

Update there is now an exporter: .*** exporter for 3ds max 9

making your own maps = using a very expensive 3d modelling program to create the map from ground up. So basicly you have to be pretty good at 3d modelling if you want to make something good.

I'm sure it's not as hard as you think. Honestly... Source SDK > mostly anything out currently. Also 3ds max you can find tuts easily. So just site for a few hour and you'll get it.

A lot of people wouldn't pay for it. Many people get it illegal and semi legal ways. I'm not going to say how I... I mean they would do it, but there are ways. Don't do any of them. Buy it if you want it. (all said cuz a fed makes me say it as he stands WAY too close)

I'll say how , Buy premium here and do a search for 3ds max :0 or even better type it into google and download a torrent.

Not even close. With farcry you are given a set list of objects you can add to a pre defined map or something like that... I think.... With H2V you are modelling the map from ground up.

Yea, with H2v, you have to make everything. The ground, the trees, the rocks, the bases, and even the easter eggs. How would one put in spawn points without things like entity?

You use the programs that come with h2v... tool compiles the map into the .scenario, .bsp and lightmap files. Sapien allows you to add objects and spawn points, and guerilla lets you edit certain things like what sky you want your map to have etc.

That's a lot of programs to use and a lot of work, but still cool. I mean, you are making a full H2 map in all it's glory. but the question is, could you do the same with the Xbox version? Oh well. I've stopped modding and making maps. I'm just waiting for Halo 3. It will keep me sane for now.
