if u cant get on ur ms dash then read this!

ok so i needed to get to my ms dash for some halo 2 mod. so on UnleashX i click MS Dashboard but is says "msdash.xbe does not exist (somethin like that). and when u turn on ur xbox with ur disk tray open, it says some stuff like ur xbox needs service and the 21 in the corner. well i decided to do somethin to see if it'll load the dash. ok go on FlashFXP or w/e u use to FTP. connect to ur xbox then go to the C drive. transfer the xboxdash.xbe to ur desktop, then rename it to msdash.xbe. then transfer it back to the C drive. make sure the xboxdash.xbe and msdash.xbe, just in case somethin mite go wrong and u need the xboxdash.xbe file. now just click MS Dashboard and it will load! but if u turn on ur xbox with the disk tray open u will still get the "21 'xbox needs service" message, so u can only get to it if u click MS Dashboard on the UnleashX dash.

Fair worning with this, i tried this and ended up Fu*king up my box for a bit. Had to hotswap to get it back to normal. In most cases i found that ppl were receiving this message because they were forgetting to install it when they installed their softmod. Make sure you have done this first. Then if that fails, you can attempt this.

First of all did u make a ms back-up?
anyways to get rid of error 21 u can use aid 3.10 and restore your missing files

Use the game you softmodded with. Cold boot it go to the installer screen on the exploit and ftp the xbox dashfiles to it Azzid posted it in the xbox support forum without spending 5-12 hours downloading aid v3

This is a REALLY old topic.

Just edit the config.xml to change the msdash loaction from xboxdash.xbe to xb0xdash.xbe

scroll down to file explorer on your xbox
(if you have evolution X boot the softmod installer you used)
click C:\ and then scroll down to xboxdash.xbe
click start and then click Rename File or something like that (dont click Rename XBE)
and then rename it to msdash.xbe
once you restart your xbox it will boot to the modded dash then and also you will be able to boot the microsoft dashboard!
