| Halo 1/PC Modding Basics TUTORIAL MADE BY: JAY The follow tutorial will get you started in modding the original halo, you'll learn the basics such as making yourself invincible or projectile swapping. Before you start you must have .NET Framework v2.0 installed on your computer as well as having a program called WinRAR. They can be found at the links below. .NET Framework 2.0 WinRAR Once those two things are installed on your computer you need the most commonly used modding program for Halo. It's called Halo Map Tools v3.5 or HMT v3.5 for short. Click on the link below to download it. HMT v3.5 Run Fast 1. Open the map you want to do this on in HMT v3.5. 2. Navigate to the [matg]Game Globals tag in the Resource Browser and double click on it to expand the tag and then click on the globals\globals tag. 3. Now go over to the Tag Editor box and go to the Player Information section. There's a drop down box right beside the words Player Information, open it and select "0". 4. Change the settings to what's shown in the picture below then click save and close the map file. You can now run fast, try messing around with the settings until you get something you like. ![]() ![]() Jump High 1. Open the map you want to do this on in HMT v3.5. 2. Navigate to the [bipd]Biped tag in the Resource Browser and double click on it to expand the tag and then click on the characters\cyborg_mp\cyborg_mp tag. 3. Now go over to the Tag Editor box and in the More Flags section check of the box titled "Immune to Falling Damage" and click the save button. ![]() 4. Now scroll all the way to the bottom in the Tag Editor box, near the bottom there's something called Jump Velocity, this is how high MC can jump. A good height for bloodgluch is 0.55 but you will have to change it according to the map you're modding. Once you've changed the Jump Velocity to something you like hit save and close the map file. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unlimted Ammo 1. Open the map you want to do this on in HMT v3.5. 2. Navigate to the [weap]Weapon tag in the Resource Browser and double click on it to expand the tag and then click on the weapon you want to do this with. 3. Scroll down in the Tag Editor box until you reach the Magazines section. Open the drop down box that's right beside the word Magazines and select "0". 4. Change the it to what I've shown in the picture below then hit save and close the map file. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fully Auto Weapons 1. Open the map you want to do this on in HMT v3.5 2. Navigate to the [weap]Weapon tag in the Resource Browser and double click on it to expand the tag and then click on the weapon you want to do this with. 3. Scroll down in the Tag Editor box until you reach the Triggers section. Open the drop down box that's right beside the word Triggers and select "0". 4. If the "Does Not Repeat Automatic Fire" box is checked off un-check it and then change the Rounds Per Second to somewhere around 1000 then hit save and close the map file. Your weapon is now fully auto, if it's a plasma rifle you will have to mess around with the "Heat and Age generated by shot" settings. ![]() ![]() Make Yourself Invincible 1. Open the map you want to do this on in HMT v3.5 2. Navigate to the [coll]Collision Model tag in the Resource Browser and double click on it to expand the tag and then click on the characters\cyborg\cyborg tag. 3. Change the Max Body Vitality and Max Shield Vitality to what's shown in the picture and then hit save and close the map file. ![]() ![]() Projectile Swapping 1. Open the map you want to do this on in HMT v3.5 2. Navigate to the [proj]Projectile tag in the Resource Browser and double click on it to expand the tag and then click on the weapon or vehicle you want to change. 3. For this example i'm going to make the banshee shoot out rockets so I click on the vehicles\banshee\banshee bolt. Now in the Tag Information section click the swap button which is right beside the word meta and then click on whatever you want to swap it with. 4. Hit save and then close the map file. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Jay; 05-14-2007 at 09:39 PM.. | ||||||
