Basic making of a Spawn Mod Tutorial

I was bored one day so I though I would piss of the Halo PC online community by making a spawn mod well here's the tutorial on how to do it below.

Programs we will be using:
  • Halo PC (durrrrr)
  • SparkEdit
  • HMT v3.5
Once you've got all those programs all set up open up SparkEdit so we can begin.

Step 1: Open SparkEdit.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 2: Navigate to the map you want to do mod, i'll be using Bloodgulch for an example.
Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 3: On the right side of SparkEdit click on the edit tab and then in the dropdown box select "Player Spawns".
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 4: Hopefully you know how to move the camera around in SparkEdit but if not then it's the W,S,A,D keys to move the camera forwards, backwards, and left/right the shift and ctrl keys move the camera down and up. Anyways, navigate to one of the bases I started at the red base.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 5: See all those red squares. Well they're the player spawn locations. Start off by making shure the "Select Mode" button is active.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 6: You can now select the spawns by clicking on them aslong as select mode is on.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 7: Now once you have a spawn point selected switch over to "Translate Mode" by clicking the button shown in the picture below.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 8: You can now move the spawn point to wherever you want. I choose to start moving them to the middle of the map (you might be wondering how to move the spawn points up or down, well all you have to do is make shure you're in translate mode and that the spawn point is selected. Just hold CTRL and move your mouse up or down.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 8: Continue moving all of those spawn points to your designated spot until you've got all of them moved. A helpful hint, when your selecting them you can hold CTRL to select more than one at a time and then move them all towards the spot you want. Once they're there you can group them up alittle bit better individually. This will save you alot of time.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 9: Move your camera under the map to make shure you didn't leave any behind when you were moving the spawn points.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 10: Let's get clicking! Alright now you should have all the spawn points on one large group. Make shure you are in select mode and while holding the CTRL key start selected all of the spawn points into they're all yellow and none are red.
Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 11: With all the spawn points selected go back into translate mode and move them up to around the top of the map.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 12: That's all that needs to be done in SparkEdit so you can save and exit out of the program.
Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 13: Open HMT v3.5 and navigate to the map you just moved all the spawn points around on.
Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 14: In the Resource Browser open up the [bpid] tag and then click on characters\cyborg_mp\cyborg_mp.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 15: In the Tag Editor check off the box titled "Immune to Falling Damage". This will prevent you and anyone else from getting killed from hitting the ground after spawning.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 16: This step is optional but you might want to do it. Go to the [weap] tag in the Resourse Browser and then choose the weapon your gametype will be starting with. Mine is a sniper rifle so I went to weapons\sniper rifle\sniper rifle. Once you are there scroll down to the triggers section in the Tag Editor and click on the dropdown box and select the "0".
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 17: Change the rounds per second ones to something like 10000 and rounds per shot to 5 if you want.
Click the image to open in full size.

step 18: Still in the tag editor for your weapon of choice scroll up to the Magazines section and then click on the dropdown box and select the "0". Change the Rounds Total Initial, Rounds Total Max, Rounds Loaded Max and Rounds Reloaded to something like 10000 or maybe even higher.
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 19: All that's left to do is click the save button and then close the map file and your done!!! I have a video of me testing this mod out below, I also made myself jump high, run fast and gave the sniper a different shader. I wouldn't recommend having run fast on though because the other people will be able to run fast aswell.

It's kind of pointless for Halo PC but than again it fun to see how many times people call you noob. It can actually turn into a game if you get 4 or more people, don't have run fast on and you let them hit the ground before killing each other .

Probably because there's another program using the bitmaps.map... ie. HMT, close that and try.
