| how to remove softmods properly Tutorial: (i assume you have the dashboard on at the start of the tutorial, so if you dont, put it on::::::Also, i will use splinter cell to demonstrate, it can be done with all other games just replace where it says splinter cell with your game) 0) Ftp to your Xbox, Delete the following Folders: Apps, Games, CACHE, and emu. 1) pop in the splinter cell disk and load up the linux saves 2) now see where it says turn softmod on/off? click that and go to Off 3) now it will say action completed or somthing to that effect saying it worked and that you have to restart, hit Ok 4) now your back to the ms dash YAY, but your not done.... 5) put splinter cell back in and load up the saves once again 6) see where it says remove softmod? click on that, it will likely ask you if you are sure, click yes if it doesn't your fine. 7) let it do its thing......it will take like 2 minutes tops 8 ) once its done it will ask you to hit ok and restart 9) when you restart the softmod will be no longer existant on your xbox and you will only have the ms dash YAY 10) pop back in splinter cell and load the saves again, click on english and then go to dashboard settings, then network, and go to Type and put static off, make sure it says DHCP and then go to the bottom and hit save and then hit exit and then press the following buttons down on the controller at the same time, Black, White, R, L, Back. 11) the dashboard will reload, now ftp to it, and make sure the folders that you deleted in step 0 are still gone, if not, delete them again, They are: Apps, Games, Emu, and CACHE.....all located in the E/ folder 12) now your done, just shut off your xbox and your good to go. Further Explained: When you install a softmod you tell the xbox to boot off another file and not the one located in C, so when you go to remove the softmod, it takes off the files but the files that the xbox booted from arn't there! resulting in a error message (usually 13). so what you needed to do was to turn off the softmod, which tells the xbox to boot off the C drive again because the softmod is off. Then its ok to remove the softmod because the files wont be deleted that its booting from because they're existant on C and not E. I Hope That Helped.... To All Those People That Have Error Messages and Didn't Read This Soon Enough: So you ****ed up, and didn't know i posted this....all you have to do is... 1) put the EXACT game saves you used back on your xbox (and if you cant do this, you better hope they're still on your xbox from when you ****ed up, or you are screwed) 2) now just run the game you used to install the softmod before, select the save file, and reinstall it 3) now scroll uptop and read step on of the original tutorial | ||||||
