Modding with Xbox 360

Okay, so...I just bought a Xbox 360 console, with the harddrive/wireless controller (Cheap Wireless Controller)/hd cables and everything.

Since I began playing Halo 2 (which is many (!) years ago), I've always wanted to personnalize the maps, guns, vehicules and many other features of the game. Later, I learned it was possible with modding...even though it was considered as illegal and punished by a banishment from XboxLive.

Recently, I've seen on youtube some people having over 48 maps on their harddrive...awesome maps sometimes better than the original ones. So, I wanted to know if it was possible to have those maps on my Xbox 360 harddrive and being able to play with them, without voiding my guarantee by opening anything on my brand new 570$CAD machine, or anything related to modchips or add-ons we have to fix on the console.

I noticed a USB port beside the Ethernet plug...can we use this to access files in 360's harddrive with Xplorer360 installed on my PC?

Please, I'm ready to buy any software that would allow me to have new Halo 2 maps to play on...the only thing I ABSOLUTELY want to avoid, is installing modchips or modifying of all possible ways the console.

Open to all options, counting on you!

(English is my third language, sorry for mistakes.)

There is this thing called the XSATA....it lets you mod the new maps on your harddrive.

XSATA - The Ultimate XB360 Hard Drive Space Saver...

You can also mod old maps, but not online. You basicly have to reformat a new map as an old one (so overwriting a new map with an old one BUT with the new maps name, and picture....there is a program that can do that in a few seconds). This voids the warrenty though...but how would they know you had it if you took it off? hope I helped!

Well, a little, but I've read freaky stuff about XSATA...

Apparently, you have to litterally open your console (with screwdrivers and everything) and then connect your PC directly to the "naked" harddrive with a very expansive special wire.

Hmmm...I don't trust my hands.

im looking into getting the xsata aswell hopefully soon. but as far as i know you dont take anything apart. the neon blueish peace you see between the xbox and the xboxes hd connects the computer to the hd then from there you go into explorer360 and change the map files with your modded maps and presto your done. thats what ive read though.

im pretty sure your looking at a different way to connect your hd to your comp without spending any money one xsata or the other types which are like xsata.

Actually, no.

I've said it and repeat it: xsata VOIDS your guarantee.

XSATA doesnt void your warranty. Its a simply plung n play. And if you dont want the XSATA on your xbox any more, just remove it. In order to void your warranty you have to open the xbox. The XSATA will not void your warranty.

It is impossible to have your xbox 360 modified to support playing multiple maps then the normal ones through the mainmenu at this time.

No, XSATA will void your warranty depending what you do with it.

Just like softmodding voids your warranty for the original xbox.

But maybe im wrong.

Oh Well i think that its dumb that that would void the warranty.

It only voids the warranty so microsoft has another way to deter people from doing it.

And since it's their warranty what they say goes.
