How to Softmod your Xbox with SID 4.0

Well, I got everything working fine. So I then wanted to brows around a bit and see what was there. Then I clicked 'Misc' (I think) and it prompted me for a password. I pressed 'B' but it wouldn't take me back. So I went down to the 'Done' button and it said the password was invalid. I couldn't get out of that screen so I turned off my xbox. Then turned it back on and the normal video plays with the green blob. Then the 'Unleash X' logo comes up an then fades black and freezes after a couple seconds. I can't get to the modded dash because of the frozen screen, but I can play games just fine. Can you guys help me?

Ok, forgive me for not reading through all the posts but I'm freaking out a little bit.
I booted the AID disk and went to the softmod section, i went down to remove softmod (or something like that) and it said to unmount C or something like that. So I went to that and it unmounted it. Then I went back to the remove thing and it said the softmod was successfully removed, would you like to restart? I said yes and it shut off. I took out the disk and when I booted up my xbox I got an error screen with a message in like fifty languages.
I can boot up my games, but I can't access the dash, Is there a way to fix this???
Please help, thanks a million.
(BTW, I was removing the mod because I wanted to use Live and I'm freakin paranoid...)

Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevermind. I booted up Splinter Cell and ran the gamesave that I (thank God) left on my HDD. I went in and selected restore MS backup, and now I'm good to go. So as a warning to everyone, do NOT delete the gamesave from your HDD when you've installed the softmod. It could save your @$$ later.

Put your game in, load linux, click Uninstall Softmod, after that click, Restore MSDASH. You will be back to a non-modded Xbox. Go through this tutorial again and don't mess around with anything.

And really...to me, it sounds like you used Krayzies installer...not this one. Be sure to use the install I have listed in THIS tutorial.

Glad you got it worked out. This is EXACTLY why I tell people to NOT delete the gamesaves from their Xbox. xbl (Buy Cheap XBL Codes) and Bungie can't read your hdd, see you have linux files on it and then ban you, so to be safe, just leave em on b/c they may come in handly like they did for lucidian.

I can assure you I most definitely used this tutorial. I can't remember what I clicked to be prompted for a password, could you tell me so that I don't go to that again? It was one of the options that surrounds the circular green xbox image. Thanks for the help. If I knew how to give you 'Thanks' I would.

I would just stick to the tutorial. If you have questions about adding features, etc, ask us. Also, when you are done with this tutorial, be sure to look for my tutorial on "How to use Auto-Installer Deluxe" (this adds more features to your modded Xbox).

I uninstalled the softmod, then clicked 'OK' for it to restart for the changes to take effect, then went through Splinter Cell to get back to that screen. Then I clicked "Restore MS Backup" (I assume you meant this, there is no "Restore MSDASH" like you mentioned in the earlier post) but it says:
"Batch process failed.
The last item was: E\BACKUP\MS NOT FOUND.
Action: Rename"

The tut in this forum on uninstalling the softmod doesn't say to click "Restore MSDASH," why did you want me to do this?

Anywas, I know that I created a MS Backup like the tutorial said. So I just went down to "Run System Shutdown" and it shutdown. Then I went through the process again to install the softmod and then the same thing happens: when it is booting 'Unleash X' it freezes, just like before.

I'm not some incompetent fool who just pressed buttons randomly, I followed the directions exactly.

Can I try installing the other dash (EvolutionX) to see if that will work?

I still don't understand why I was prompted for a password. I was browsing the Unleash X dashboard and I remember changing the screen setting so that it fit my TV better. Then I went down a bit going around the different options encircling the green xbox logo. What ever one I clicked prompted me for a password, but wouldn't let me get out of that window, so I had to turn off my xbox. And this of course led to the frozen startup screen. Has no one else ever clicked what I did to be prompted for a password? Seems like an odd thing to put in the main screen.

What do I do?

Ok, well someone mentioned they had to uninstall softmod and then do restore ms dash...so I figured you had to as well.

Anyways, yes, try evox. If that doesn't work then, I would uninstall the softmod again and then try my Krayzies 1.1.1 installer tutorial.

Now I have a new question... Is it possible for you to be able to just use your soft mod to make the sniper rifle automatic WITHOUT doing it through a map?

I don't know anything really about modding Halo2, but there's much more to it than just using your softmod.

I know if u have the AR software u can get the RapidFire hack thing for halo2 it rapidly shoots out anything rockets sniper u name it

^^ Why are you against editing the map because either way your gonna be banned and I personally think it's much more fun to edit maps.

Well, honestly, i'm not going to use it on live, and I have NOTHING against editing the maps, i'm just trying to find a way to do it so I can get it into the other maps as well (lockout, ect)

Well if your not going and live and you have softmods, just put halo 2 onto your hard drive. That way you have every map like lockout.

after i get done modding a map in dothalo and save it i scroll down to the clip and the projectile dialog boxes and they appear blank as if i never put any number values in. Is this normal? If not can anybody help me on this. By the way, great tutorial. Im a first time softmodder who knows nothing about modding and this got me through it like a breeze but please help me with this problem. THanks.

Uhm.. Now i've got another problem... When I try to put either SID 4.0 or the other soft-mod thing on the action replay, it won't go. I do the drag n' drop thing and no, i'm not extracting any files, I just open up the rar. file and try to put in the zip files that asre on the tut and there just not showing up. But when I put other mod files on there it will go... Help?
