skinnin help plz

yeah umm i have been modding halo pc for a very long time but i cant do one thing...i have photoshop 7.0 and i have the .dds plugins. so i go into hmt and extract a BITMAP that i want to skin... i extracted to mi desktop. i open photoshop and then open the .dds bitmap in it. i skin to wutever i want and save as a .dds file. i make sure that it is the rite dxt thing, then save to mi desktop again. i open HMT again and inject bitmap. it shows mi made bitmap but gess wut wen i actually load the map on halo theres no skin!! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEZ HELP ME oh yeah and it says wen i extract to save it as a .dds.1dds or something that may help. so plz help me!\/\/

if u mean am i extracting rom a non modded map...then no i have modded the map but ill try this ty!

it didnt work : ( it still says sniper rifle.dds1 any plz help me fix it

ok i did that and it didnt work.... but i no this is not normal...when i extract the bitmap, say to mi desktop. it says done er something...then i look at its name and it says say:pistol.dds1 i no it should say just .dds not .dds1 so if any 1 noes how to fix plz tell me

if not then maybe i am skinning rong....i just did stuff never went bi a tut so if u could make a skinning tut for me

lol thats halo 2 this is halo 1 .. and for the computer i alredy can skin halo 2 fine .......
