How'd you fux it up? I did this with little prior knowledge (of iPods) and had absolutely no problems. With the ipodpatcher, I think it's such a low-level app that as long as you've got a backup of the firmware, you can't really brick the thing.

Did I mention that it's also dual-boot? You can run either rockbox or the default ipod software...
