Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts | Soft Modding Your Xbox!! Great Guide!!! ØVery important that you have a computer that is either hooked directly to the same router that your xbox is hooked to!! ØAlso if you have a wireless receiver on the back of your xbox so you can play wirelessly through out your house, you will have to unplug that and directly plug your xbox into a router. ØAnd for those people that are hooked up to a router but didn’t have a long enough Ethernet cable to reach there xbox, so they had to connect two Ethernets through a “Hub” (or any other type of device), you will need to move your xbox close enough to your router so that it can directly plug it into it! 1. Before you can start to mod your xbox, you must have the very first splinter cell game (stealth action redefined) and it CANNOT be the platinum hits version, plus you need action replay. 2. Then you will need these two files SPGSX#1, SPGSX#2 ØThen hook the memory card dock up to your USB slot. ØThen put the memory card in the dock, and wait until the big AR icon at the top of the Action Replay program window is lit completely green. 4. Then drag the SPGSX files one at a time! From their folder to the left hand column (the memory card column) on the action replay program. And wait until the orange bar (where it says memory card) loads all the way through. Ø**When this is done you know the file has been copied to your memory card.** Ø**You do this for Each file!** 5. Then go to your xbox dash board and copy that 1st file from your memory card (The Action Replay Memory Card) to your xbox hard drive. 6. Then go back your computer and plug the Action Replay Memory Card back into the dock and wait till the AR at the top is lit completely green. Then you can delete the 1st file off the action replay memory card. 7. Then drag the second SPGSX file from the file folder into the memory card slot and wait until it the little orange bar loads up again. 8. Then go to your xbox and copy that file from the Action Replay Memory Card to your hard drive. 9. Now once both files have been copied to your memory card and then onto your xbox hardrive, you will no longer need the action replay program. 10. Next you will insert the Splinter Cell game into your xbox and load it up. At the start menu press start game, and then click on the Linux profile, then click the check points button. 11. When you do this some weird screen will pop up that say UNLEASH X, and then some weird dashboard will pop up that is blue (you have most likely never seen this before, but its ok)! 12. The fist thing you will do in this screen is click the selection CREATE MS BACKUP, this is crucial so do this first!!!!!! 13. Once you have created the MS Backup, you will scroll down the list until you come upon a selection that says Install soft mod. Click that and a window should pop up that says, “are you sure you wish to continue”, also it will ask if you have created a “MS BACKUP”, you will then hit “Yes or continue”. 14. Then once that step is done loading, scroll down a little more until you see a selection that says “Install Unleash X”. Click that and let it install (load). 15. Now once you have done these 3 things, find the selection on the list that says “Settings”. Click that, then scroll down and click on “Network”. Then once you are in the network settings screen, scroll down a few lines and you’ll see something that says “IP Address”, and above that it says “STATIC”, you then will have to click the “STATIC” button and it should automatically change “DHCP”. Once you have done this, click “B” on your controller and it will prompt you with something that asks you if you “Wish to save changes”… You then will click “Yes”. 16. Then open your disk tray and pull Splinter Cell out, and then close the tray. 17. Then turn your Xbox off. 18. Then to turn your Xbox it back on, but DO NOT hit the power button to turn it on, hit the eject button instead. 19. Then you’ll be back in Unleash X dashboard again. Once there scroll down to “Settings” section, Once in the settings menu. Click on “Network”. Once there the very first thing you will see is a set of numbers next to “Current IP Address”, when you see this get a pen and paper out and write that number down. 20. Once you know your “Current IP Address” which should be 10 or so numbers long (it may vary). 21. You will then go to your computer and go to this link exactly: SmartFTP - Download and you will download the first choice on that page called the: “SMART FTP CLIENT”!! 22. Once you download it, you will need to install it onto your computer. 23. Once you have installed this program, open it up. And at the top of the program window, you will see some blank spaces that say: “Address”, “Login”, “Password”, and “Port”. 24. For the “Address” you will delete the “yourserver.com” that will be in the provided space automatically when you start the program, and replace it with the “Current IP Address” that you wrote down on your piece of paper. 25. Then for the “Login” space you will type: xbox 26. And for “Password” space you will type: xbox 27. And you keep the “Port” at: 21 28. AND NEVER CHECK THE ANONOMOUS BOX 29. Then in the upper left hand corner of the program window, you will click a little icon that says “Connect”. 30. Once you do this a bunch of file folders will pop up. 31. You will then click the E: file folder. 32. Once you have done this, many choices will appear. This is when you click on the folder that reads: TDATA. 32. Then you will see another set of number folders, you will then scroll down until you find the one with the last 3 numbers ending in 064. Once you find this folder, click it. 33. Then in the right hand column you will see 2 folders that say $c and $u, you will click the $c folder. 34. Once you have done this, you will see to more folders. You will click find the folder that reads: 4d53006400000001. 35. Then I suggest you make this guide and the “FTP Program” smaller, so that they can both fit next to each other on your computer screen. 36. Then look back at the right hand column of the “FTP Program” and at the top you will see something that reads: “containment.map”, and below that you will see “warlock.map”. 37. Now since I have given you the modded warlock and turf map files at the bottom of this document. ØYou will scroll down and click on the warlock file. Then drag it over to the right hand column of the “FTP Program” and place it on top of the file that says “warlock.map”. ØOnce you have done this a window will pop up, and when it does you will then click the “Overight” option. ØThen a bar will appear at the top and it will load. And when it is done loading it will say “Transfer Successful”. 38. Once you have overighted the “warlock map” file. Click on the choice that says parent folder. ØOnce you have done this, click on the file folder that reads “4d53006400000002”. ØThen once you are in this folder a file that reads “turf.map” ØThis is where you repeat the steps that you just did above only for the Turf map file. 39. Once you have replaced the original map files with the modded versions. (Which is what you just did in the last 2 steps) you may exit out of your “FTP Program”. 40. Then go to your xbox and close the disk tray and turn it off. 41. Once you have done this, you may turn it back on but again DO NOT click the power button, instead hit the eject button! 42. Then you will be back in Unleash X dashboard. Once there you scroll down and click “RESTORE MSBACKUP”, you will then click it and let it reinstall the old Microsoft dashboard. 43. Once it is done reinstalling it, close your disk tray and shut your Xbox off. Then once it is off, for a couple of seconds, you may then turn it back on using the power button! 44. **If a notice pops up that says “Xbox Live cannot be reached”, go to the option that allows you to start the trouble shooter.** ØLet the trouble shooter check its stuff and when it finds a problem it will go to a screen and try to explain to you what’s wrong. When and if that happens just click “B” on your controller. ØThen go to the settings option, and click on “IP Address”. ØIn this menu you will see “IP Address”, “Subnet Mask”, and “Gateway”. ØWhat you do after getting to that screen is let it sit for a minute, and go to your computer and click: Start --- Programs --- Accessories --- and go down to a program called “Command prompt” (or MS-Dos) and click it, to open it. ØOnce there a black window should pop up, then you type: “ipconfig” and click enter. ØThen some information should pop up. You will then write down the “IP Address” and the “Gateway” on a piece of paper. ØThen go back to your Xbox and make any changes to the “IP Address or the Gateway” that need to be made. ØOnce you have done that, you should see a tab that has an option written in it that says “Manual”, click that and change it to “Automatic”. (when you click it, the IP Address, Gateway and Subnet Mask should all change to zeros… This is a good thing!!!) ØThen press “B” on your controller, and try to connect again… And you should be able to. 45. If you did not have trouble reconnecting to Xbox Live, then Step 44 is pointless to use. (It is only for those who had trouble!!) 46. And this finally ends your quest to Soft Mod your Xbox! Have a good time modding!! Sincerely, BassMast3r6 or Ich4seMidg3ts PS. If you want to be done modding and your about to get on a good account, I recommend that you re download the map packs from Bungie, so that clean maps fully replace the modded maps that you have on your Xbox! 2 Starter Modded Map Files! - - |
