Ever since Nintendo's new Wii console launched only a few weeks ago, forum goers everywhere have been asking for ways to get the Wii's blue LED light for WiiConnnect24 messages to stay on. Well, rest assured you still get to read those threads, but today we may have stumbled upon something even more desired!
SICKmods.net, a website dedicated to unique devices to customize your console, just recently showcased a very interesting mod chip known as PulseVU. The mod, which causes the blue LED message light to pulsate with sound, is expected to be made available for purchase later this week. Everything from menu screen music, to ball batting in Wii Sports Tennis makes full use of the mod, and quite frankly it looks pretty sick.
Go ahead and check out the full PulseVU Wii video uploaded on YouTube.
As the video will explain, the mod will not interfere with the normal operations of the Wii. The audio activated lights will automatically deactivate when a WiiConnect24 message is received, giving full control back over to the Wii. As well, according to the FAQ page of the site, the actual mod in action is a lot less flickery than in the video (though, even the video is pretty solid). This is chalked up to the slow frame rate the video was recorded in.
*Keep in mind, Me GOFAST0808 has not tested this chip, and do not condone or suggest you try it as it will void your Wii warranty. With that said, it does look nifty.
