Whenever I put in a backup disk, I get the open tray error. I open and close tray about 4-5 times, and then the game finally loads up. 95% of the time the game loads and plays, but sometimes I get a disk unreadable error. I am using Memorex disks, but I know this isn't the problem because it takes a while for legit games to load too. Any ideas?

Its your laser starting to die. You could do the POT adjustment to fix this. Or you could buy a new drive and spoof it as your original.

Also you might want to reflash the firmware my 1st liteon drive did the same thing i tried pot tweak and it never really helped. I just got the via card to flash a friends benq and for heck of it it i relfashed my old liteon and now it reads games perfect.

A flash won't affect the laser's ability to read a game. Your just lucky. These problems can come and go. It has done it before on my drive too. I just left it alone and it went away.

How would I spoof a new drive as my original? I have a BenQ. Also, would it be easier to spoof it or just replace the laser?

If you buy another benq then you don't have to spoof. But you do need the extract the firmware out of the old benq and flash it to the new one.

Replacing the laser is another option that wont require any flashing.

Dude mine had the same problem, just today UPS were at my door collecting the console
