So i called 1-800-4MY-XBOX earlier asking to get a transfer cable seeing as i got a 60gb HDD recently. Someone who is actually UNDERSTANDABLE picks up. So i go on to tell him that I recently got a 60gb HDD and need to transfer all my game-saves and other stuff from my 20gb to my 60gb. So then he rambles on asking for all my info and everything, and after about 10-15 minutes he says the cable is going to cost me $12.90 for a transfer cable. So I go on to tell him thats a load of sh** and that i just paid $100 for the HDD and there's no way that I'm paying to transfer my stuff. Then he says that he MAY be able to trick the system or something so that i will not have to pay for it but there's "No Promises" that it will work. So he tried to process it and it didn't work. So he gave me a reference # or something and to call back in a few hours. I called back gave the reference # or whatever its called and had to do the whole information thing again and after about 5-10 min the guy said that the cable would be at my house in 3-10 business days.
So its takes awhile but here are some steps to get your free transfer cable.
1. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX
2. When the menu thing is done say agent and console
3. When the agent picks up tell them that you just bought a 60gb HDD and need to transfer your data.
4. Give the agent all of your information correctly. (just say that you don't have an email it goes faster that way)
5. When they tell you that it will cost $12.90 or whatever they tell you(thats what he told me) Tell them some BS story about how your friend called the day before and got a free transfer cable.
6. The agent may or may not be cooperative. Usually they will be so they will tell you they are going to try and process it or whatever without you paying for it.
7. It may be like my case and not have been able to process at the moment. So they will give 9 or 10 digit # to call back with in a while. If not like my case congrats but keep reading incase it is like mine.
8. When you call back it should only take about 10 minutes to have them process it for shipping. They will then give you another number(you can forget about the other one now) to call back with if the cable doesn't arrive at your house within several weeks.
There you have it. A free transfer cable. :thumbup:

Mine arrived a day after I ordered it... It was sent via purolator express lawl as well getting it for free.
Hopefully after reading this people might actually stop complaining bout the transfer cables being $12 and actually try to get one for free and not give up after one try.

Alright thanks alot for replying, and is this really worth the hassle to talk to Microsoft? And, does this has all the functions something like XSATA can do? If you can tell, I am not really an expert in any of this lol
Yeah, it is definitely worth it, you can get free gamerpictures, mods, gamesaves and lots of other stuff. Yes, it does the exact same thing as XSATA which is mainly just connecting your HDD to your computer. It's MUCH cheaper though seeing as it's free (most of the times).

It would have saved me $93.28.

Just gunna post my experience to add on;
Sent an email to xbox support, got back a very generic 'Click here and dl the pdf'.
So I called MS, some nice indian lady picked up, told her what happened, provided email address, and phone number, along with the Console serial number and everything was set. She submitted an order and said it'll be 3 -10 business days. Took about 10 minutes :P
Glad I don't have to rip apart my HD everytime I want to gs or something now :D
