(In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to bridge host in Gears of War 2 (GoW2) using the crossover cable method)

This was made by NubbLe... Do not repost without giving me credit!

-The most important program that you need is Zone Alarm Pro. Zone Alarm Pro can be downloaded here!
(Zone Alarm Pro is the program that you will be using to force yourself host)
-The second program that you may want to use is Commview. Commview can be downloaded here!
(Commview is the program that you can use to sniff out incoming IP's) (Thanks MFxHaVoKx)

Step 1.

-Open up your Zone Alarm Pro
-When you open up ZONE ALARM PRO (ZAP) a box should show up with a NEW NETWORK CONNECTION
-Two bubbles will be available for selection, for the NEW NETWORK, select the INTERNET bubble and press OK
-Click the FIREWALL tab
-Click the MAIN tab
-Set your INTERNET ZONE and TRUSTED ZONE firewall sliders to MEDIUM

Step 2.

-Click the ZONES tab under the FIREWALL tab group
-Click ADD and select IP RANGE
-Type in 65.55.42.130 as the first IP and 65.55.42.255 as the second IP
(This is the IP RANGE of Xbox Live, this will make it so you won’t get lagged out when you put your FIREWALL on HIGH later on)
-Add this IP RANGE to TRUSTED
-Type in XBL as the description
-Press OK
-Click ADD and select IP RANGE
-Type in 206.13.213.20 as the first IP and 206.13.213.255 as the second IP
(This is the IP RANGE of the EPIC SERVER, this will also make it so you won’t get lagged out when you put your FIREWALL on HIGH later on)
-Add this IP RANGE to TRUSTED
-Type in EPIC as the description
-Click ADD and select IP RANGE
-Type in 206.16.213.20 as the first IP and 206.16.213.255 as the second IP
(This is the IP RANGE of the EPIC SERVER, this will also make it so you won't get lagged out when you put your FIREWALL on HIGH later on)
-Add this IP RANGE to TRUSTED
-Type in EPIC 2 as the description
-Press OK

Step 3.

-Go to THIS site
-Write down the IP ADDRESS that it shows
(This is your personal IP address)
-Go back to ZAP
-Click on the FIREWALL tab
-Click on the ZONES tab
-Click ADD and select IP ADDRESS
-Type in the IP ADDRESS that was displayed on ipchicken.com
-Add this IP ADDRESS to TRUSTED
-Type in MY IP as the description

Step 4.

THIS IS ALL TO BE DONE ON THE XBOX 360 SYSTEM!!!!

-Select MULTIPLAYER in the GEARS OF WAR 2 Menu
-Invite your XBOX 360 FRIENDS into your party
~Next, you must get their IP’s~
-Once everyone is in your game, open up ZONE ALARM PRO
-Click on the FIREWALL tab
-You should see your two FIREWALL sliders
*ALWAYS KEEP THE TRUSTED ZONE SECURITY ON MED*
-Rapidly change the INTERNET ZONE SECURITY SLIDER from MED to HIGH four or five times
-Click the ALERTS AND LOGS tab
-Make sure that the dropdown menu displays FIREWALL
-A log of various IP’s should show up
-There will be ones that show up under SOURCE IP and DESTINATION IP
-The ones that do not start with 192.168….. are the ones that are your friends
-Right click on the SOURCE IP’s that are your FRIENDS and ADD them to TRUSTED

Step 5.

-Once you have all of your FRIENDS IP’s on TRUSTED, put your INTERNET ZONE SECURITY FIREWALL SLIDER onto HIGH
-Ask your FRIENDS if they can hear you
(If they can’t, then you don’t have their IP’s on TRUSTED)
-If everyone can hear you, and you can hear them, start the game
-Once you have started the game, you will see three boxes
-Once the first two boxes are checked with the green checkmarks, count out ten seconds
-After ten seconds have passed, lower your FIREWALL from HIGH to MED
-You will have to wait a little while, but you will eventually find a match
-You should have host, but to find out, simply put your FIREWALL to HIGH during the countdown right before the game starts
-If the countdown continues, you are host, if it stops, you aren’t

That is how to successfully bridge yourself host, there are many tricks and fun things you can do while host, and I will go ahead and tell you some of them

  • When the countdown starts right before the match, wait for it to hit five seconds before the game will start, and put your FIREWALL on HIGH until the game starts. This puts everyone into the “ROADIE RUN” position, and they won’t have guns. *BEWARE* people will usually quit. It is kind of funny, as they run really really fast.
  • You can lag people by putting your FIREWALL to HIGH. If you do it for too long, they will lag out.

So that’s about it, send me any messages if you want to know anything else

IMPORTANT

You don't need anything under your EXPERT ZONES
You NEED to have all of those IP RANGES and IP's
You NEED it to be YOUR in-game party

You NEED a Full Party That You Created Yourself!

If this works for anyone, go ahead and tell me, and if you have any questions, leave them here so I can answer them, I already helped one person, and they are now bridging!

Hey acid, in one of the bridging tutorials on here it said something about the Expert section under the Firewall tab in ZAP. Can that be deleted?

Yes it can, the IP's that it talks about aren't even EPIC's IP's anymore lol

Don't worry about them

Just have these two IP RANGES

65.55.42.130-65.55.42.255
206.13.213.20-206.13.213.255

What are you talking about? Like when you keep your FIREWALL on HIGH the whole game? and everyone lags out?

my friend was the one doing the bridging, he would start the standby at 3 seconds on the count down clock, then only him and I would be the ones playing in it. (what are you supposed to do from here?) then he said we were supposed to kill everyone but one person, (everyone wasnt moving, and had no guns in their hands) so we killed everyone but one guy, then we would see everyone leave, and it would say, whatever team we were on won. Then back in the lobby, we would both have the same number of kill and wins as when we entered. What did we do wrong?

The only problem i have is that my xbox connection doesn't seem to be modified from what i do on my pc with zap, any ideas?

I mean i can even block with the "stop all connection" comand internet from the pc but xbox is still going and so when i complete all your guide steps nothing change -

I have a router connected to my pc, my xbox and another laptot, all with a wired connection.

Thank you

Your xbox has to be connected to the computer with ZAP through an ethernet port, not your router, solve that, and you'd be good to go

Do you have to do anything before you start with what you said? Plug in the CAT-5 ethernet cord, then what? Do you just plug it into your computer then continue on with your guide? Or do you need to do something with the connection first.

What operating system are you running?

Hahaha I'm on a brand new Macbook Pro.

I'm using the boot camp program so I can run windows on my mac, and I'm going to get that installed later tonight. It is going to be windows XP.

Is that alright?

Yeah, definately, you're going to have to use ICS in order to force host
