Hey whatsup Guys, this is the Simple way to Skin a warthog not the advanced thing with photoshop and all that crap. just to let you know
this is very easy to do i just put it in alot of detail thats why its really long....
thanks to Pwnage21 for teaching me this :)
(before we start)
i have titled the steps with colors..for example i will say,
Red open the warthog standard
Blue internalize bitmap
the colors coordinated with the steps are..
Red:1
Blue:2
Purple:3
Green:4
Black:5

Program(s) you need:
Basically the only program i use for modding Halo 2 is UMP v5 it is a very legitimate program. you can find it here:
http://www.se7ensins...-rs-mirror.html This is a tutorial on how to download.

And DXTBmp - Download DXTBmp 4.00.84 - DXTBmp - 16/32 bit Texture Formats in Flight Simulator and CFS2 - Softpedia

The actual programs you will need are:
DXTBmp
Dothalo
and a bitmap internalizer.

you can find these programs "except" for DXTBmp on UMP v5

Step 1:getting started.
Red: Get the map you are skinning, (in my case Turf) and these 2 maps all in the same folder
if you don't know how to get shared.map and mainmenu.map PM me.
Posted Image
Step 2: opening dothalo.
Red: Open up Dothalo v1.1 from the program UMP v5 under
"map editors"
Posted Image
Step 3: getting to the [bitm] tag
Red: open the map you are skinning.
Blue: go to the "Tags" window.
Purple: Once in the tag window click the + sign on the tag [bitm]
Posted Image
Step 4: Getting to the warthog standard
Red: Scroll down to objects/vehicles/warthog/bitmaps/warthog_standard and click on it.
Posted Image
Step 5: Extracting your warthog.
Red: Once clicked on objects/vehicles/warthog/bitmaps/warthog_standard, find the Meta Editor and click "Bitmaps"
Blue: Click on the button "Extract Bitmap" and extract it to the folder with the map you are skinning and shared.map and mainmeu.map.
Posted Image
Step 6: Bringing your warthog up in DXTBmp.
Now close dothalo.
Open up DXTBmp and bring up the folder that you made with the
four items which are: 1the map your skinning, 2mainmenu.map, 3shared.map, 4the warthog standard (which you just extracted).
Red, Blue: Now drag and drop all four of those things right
into DXTBmp.
Posted Image
Now the warthog bitmap should pop up in DXTBmp,

Step 7: Getting your warthog to "Paint".
Red: Now at the top of DXTBmp click on "image" then on "send to editor"
Posted Image
Step 8: Getting ready to paint.
now if your confused this sends the warthog bitmap to the program
"paint" everyone has it. now you can skin your warthog how you want.
Red: Click on the magnifying glass to zoom in.
Blue: Select the area you want to zoom in on.
MAKE SURE NOT TO CLOSE DXTBmp!
Posted Image
Step 9: Painting your warthog.
Red: Click on the "Line" option.
Blue: Click on the biggest "Line" option there is.
Purple: Paint the area you wish (make sure not to paint over any black!) Now when you are completely done skinning your warthog move to the next mini-step (green)
Green: Click on "File" then "Save" (NOT SAVE AS!)
Posted Image

Everything that is green is the warthog paint that
make sure to not cover anything black just paint around it.

Step 10: Reloading your warthog
bring DXTBmp back up (you should have it minimized) click on "image" then "reload after edit" and your
skinned warthog should come up. after that click on "file" then "save".
and name your warthog whatever you want this wont effect it.
and later on if you want to rename just make sure at the end you put
.dds

Step 11: Opening the bitmap internalizer.
Now go into UMP v5 and the second to the right option it says "editors" click on that.
and scroll down to the very bottom and click on "Halo2IB" and a lil window should come up, that looks like this...
Posted Image
Step 12:Internalizing your bitmap.
Red: Open the map you are skinning.
Blue: Scroll to "objects/vehicles/warthog/bitmaps/warthog_standard" and click it.
Purple: Set the Bitmap Reflexive Number to "1"
Green: Click "Use The Non-Proper Method.
Black: Click internalize Bitmap.
Posted Image
Now a little screen should pop up after its done loading it looks like a error but its a confirmation screen for internalizing the bitmap (Thats Good), click "ok".
Now it should lag for about 5 seconds, after that screen comes up just leave it until it you see the internalizer screen move

Step 13: Injecting your skinned Hog.
Now open up dothalo and open the map your skinning and go to the tag window, then "bitmap" then scroll to "objects/vehicles/warthog/bitmaps/warthog_standard" then bring up the bitmap in the meta editor
now it should be completely black.
Red: click the button "Inject Bitmap" and find the warthog skin that you saved earlier and inject it.
Posted Image
a little confirmation screen should pop up thats good.
Now Fix the encryption...
Posted Image
resign your map and YOUR DONE!!
P.S. If you don't know how to resign
your map comment on this post or PM me.

ALSO!! if you are wanting to inject a bitmap that somebody else made like from this site, or one that you have already saved, then just open up Halo2IB and internalize the warthog standard (or whatever bitmap you are skinning), the same way i told you earlier. Then go to dothalo and inject it. So make sure you save all your skins because then you can just go and inject it (its very convenient! :) )

If this tutorial helped you please use the "Thanks" button below
also you can repeat this process for any other bitmap i.e. a vehicle, a character, or a weapon whatever you feel like skinning :)

ENJOY!!

P.S. This is the FINAL draft of this Post!

First of all, it was in the wrong section because there is a more defined category for it. Secondly, it is a homo app, because all the bull**** programs in it. I use Pro Mod Tools. Its not filled with gay programs that allow for ****ty mods.

You will need to internalize it if its a hog because the skin is not stored in the map its in shared/mainmenu.

Its only like that for a some of the bitmaps, in dothalo looks near the top of the raw editor and it will say the location of the skin and if its anything different from internal then you need to internalize it.

Well there is only one more step added into there and it only takes 5 seconds
in between the steps that you said "save as .dds and inject" that is when you
internalize your warthog standard :)

i used to think the same thing but entity is just as simple to use it just has more options and actually gets the job done the right way
they bolth are used in the same way you just need to read a fuw entity tuts and fimulriase yourself with the new things that entity has over .halo
