Ok lately i have been seeing alot of ppl on sites and xbl sending messages saying "go here for recon armor, free 1600ms points" etc. I want to tell this to the people who dont know about what a phisher site is. A phisher site is a site that can look like the orginal site but is fake.So what lots of people will do is send a message to random people on live saying "hey theres a glitch in the xbox.com site. go here b4 they patch it up you get free ms points! dont listen to them. duh its fake. no one is going to just give you free ms points. There is always a catch to it. so here is an example of a fake xbox.com site look at compariosns between eachother.

picture A is real picture B is the phisher site(fake)

As you can see in picture B it says Windows Live Id highlited in blue. If you were to go right now to the xbox.com sign in page thats not there. That clearly gives it away saying its a fake site. Aslo the url is different as well. So what happens after i sign into the fake site? Well wat happens is it sends your info(email and pass) to a passwords page. That gives the thief all the info he needs to sign into your account and take it.:scared: This is what one would look like.

login: is your email address and pass: is well duh your password. now they go to the real xbox.com site and type in the info and they are now singed into your account. now they will most likly recover your gamertag on there xbox. Thats how phisher sites work.

If you want to protect your account better then here is what you can do.
1: dont fall for these kind of sites.
2: have windows live pass on your account. go to account mangement and you will see the option.
3: make sure your credit card sint on there so they can buy stuff and piss you off.:cursing:

Thats it. I hope this helped the people who didnt know about phisher sites/fake sites. plz give thx if this helped you what so ever. Also only positive comments thank you.

MS every now and then does do some contests and such that do give out free MS points. but your very right more than often people will post a phishing link and try to phish some accounts. Well i guarentee you the easiest way to tell if its a phisher link would be to look at the URL. if its not xbox.com dont bother.

also look for suspicious code in the url (it could be infected)

Now that I see the pics that is very misleading. That is only the phisher of a very lazy person. If it was done properly the person could have downloaded the image and put it in the same directory under the same name. Thus making it work. So this is not very helpful when it comes to people who do it properly.

someone sent me a message on XBL last week about a site called freemicrosoftpromotion.tk I went to it (I knew it was a phishing website) and the layout is exactly like xbox.com except that the sign in things are just pictures.

There are better phishers made out there. and honestly if you don't wanna get phished or hacked, get some brains and not go to a random website to get free ms points or recon, it won't happen, unless it's on their actual website.

Here's how I think of it. If you are stupid enough to fall for it, you don't deserve your account.

Here's how I think of it. If the person who develops the phisher ****s up on it, that's very ****ing sad. Not to mention anyone can just look at the userbar and if it's not Xbox.com | Xbox.com Home or something or the sort, then just don't go to it. nuff said.
