Many people have trouble with their Linksys WRT54GS (Personally i have the WGR614v6 which own) but the best solution is as follows:
- Enable DHCP, and remove any static IP address on your xbox 360.
- Set the MTU to 1350.
- enable UPnP.

here's a step-by-step tutorial then:
-first thing first, login to your router:
Go to that URL, and login with you username and password (by default the username is "Admin", and the password is "password")
if successful, you will see a screen like this:
Make sure it is set to "Automatic configuration", and set the MTU to "Auto" (like in this picture"
-Now in the top bar, you will see a link that says "Administration", click on it, and you will be brought to a screen that looks like this:
You see where it says "UPnP"? check the circle next to "Enable".
Now, In your Xbox360, go to Network Configuration, and Set everything to "Automatic" or DHCP. After this, you might need to restart your router for your NAT to be OPEN, but it will work.
