Im new to xbox live and the 360, im getting this one
Amazon.com: Xbox 360 Core System: Video Games
Is the only way to get live is by buying the card, or is their another way?

BTW- is the one on amazon a good deal, do i need to get anything else

You can buy xbox live with a cc through your xbox 360 or the xbox.com site. Thats the same price as every where else. Your also going to need a Hard drive or memory card to save your profile to.

and i think 300 is pretty good

ROFL Amazon is no deal, $299 is the MSRP that you'll pay at any store. eBay is your best bet, you can get one for $200.
