The new generation of consoles have seen plenty of remasters since the start, both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One has had their share of games ported over from PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360; some more welcome than others, and some more successful. One company that has refrained from offering up any remasters at all thus far is Activision, the company behind one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time, Call of Duty.

There is no denying that for many gamers the old Call of Duty games are the best ones by far, and the newer ones are just re-skinned moneymaking spin-offs. Up until now, fan favorites like Call of Duty 4 and MW2 have been stuck on last gen consoles or PC and have not been available for gamers that moved on to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. When Microsoft recently announced that backwards compatibility for the Xbox One was coming, they let gamers vote for what games they want to see available. And to no surprise, old CoD games hold 7 spots on the list of the top 15 most desired games. However, the backwards compatibility will just allow players to play the 360 version of the game. There are no tweaks and no upgraded graphics included. For some, that's more than enough, but not for those that would like to see what Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare would look like with today's technology. There is still hope though: Activision is not opposed to the thought of remastering some of these golden oldies. In a recent interview with Gameinformer, Activision's CEO of Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, said the following:

"If done well, I think [remasters] can be great, you talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle. It's always the opportunity cost, meaning we need every body we can get to make the content we're already committed to for our new games. It's always a matter of finding great people to do that work. I would love to play Modern Warfare 1 or the original Black Ops. There's certainly a deep well there. No announcements, but it's something we talk about and think about a lot."

What game would you like to see remastered from Activision's vast selection of games? Or are you maybe content with playing Black Ops I via the backwards compatibility feature on an Xbox One? Let us know in the comments below.
