Have you ever dreamed about creating your own smartphone? Well, I'm about to turn that dream into reality. Let me introduce you to Motorola's Ara. What is Ara, you ask? It's a project in which Motorola allows you to create and design your our smartphone.

"We want to do for hardware what Android has done for software: create a vibrant third-party developer ecosystem, lower the barriers to entry, increase the pace of innovation, and substantially compress development timelines," said Motorola on a blog post.

Motorola have announced that they plan to start work with developers so they can start making different modules for the phone. These will include: cameras, batteries, HDD's, processors, and many other components. Oh, what's that you ask? Are Motorola working with Dave Hakkens, the Phonebloks creator? Yes, you're absolutely right.

"Our goal is to drive a more thoughtful, expressive, and open relationship between users, developers, and their phones. To give you the power to decide what your phone does, how it looks, where and what it’s made of, how much it costs, and how long you’ll keep it."

So, does the idea of a creating your own smartphone appeal to you? If so, will you be purchasing a Motorola Ara? Let us know in the comments below.
