Microsoft To Merge Xbox One & Windows 10 Software

Microsoft is apparently working on new technology to allow Xbox and PC lovers alike to play their games on either device. In a recent report done by CNET.com, Microsoft is merging its software to allow Xbox One titles to be able to run on PC's and vice-versa. With the release of Windows 10, Phil Spencer, the "head" of Xbox, stated: "For Windows to be successful, gaming has to be vibrant, healthy, and innovative".

Windows 10 was released back in June 2014, however, it doesn't seem to be a fan favorite as only 11.9% of PC's currently run on the brand new operating system. Convincing people to download the newest software update has been a real challenge so far, however Microsoft is convinced that releasing this new type of software could solve their problem. Microsoft is also providing developers with a tool called the Universal Windows Platform, which would allow developers to not only make games for the PC but for the Xbox One too. This program is to encourage developers that make PC games to also produce quality games for the Xbox One.

This could really change how gamers play their favorite games, as well as purchase them. An example of this is the new Forza 6 Apex game that was announced for the PC today. With a promised "4K racing experience", the game isn't expected to be as big as the Forza Motorsport 6 that was released for Xbox One a short time ago, but it is a really good start to something that could become bigger with time. That isn't the only game coming to the newest PC experience, however. The fan favorite Quantum Break will also be released for Windows 10 and Xbox One on April 5th. If you pre-order on the Xbox One, you will also receive a copy of it for Windows 10.

Fable Legends is another game that is going to be a part of this program. Although it doesn't have a release date, when it does release players will be able to grab it and play it on either Windows 10 or the Xbox One. This also means that Microsoft will have to ship two different copies of the game to users. However, that doesn't seem to be a problem according to Windows Gaming Project Manager Orullian. "We'll get to the point where that's the intent for every title".

What are your thoughts guys? I'm not much of a PC gamer, but I think this could be really useful for players who enjoy playing on both the console and the PC itself.
