During Microsoft’s E3 press conference today, Playground Games officially announced the next installment in the Forza Horizon franchise, Forza Horizon 3. The game will take place in an open world Australia, featuring places from cities and towns to outbacks, deserts, canyons, and forests. It will feature over 350 cars, the most in the franchise's history, including the new Lamborghini Centenario.

An exciting new feature that is coming to Forza Horizon 3 is four-player co-op story mode. Players will be able to quickly invite other players so that they can easily join up with friends to race alongside each other. What makes this even better for players is Forza Horizon 3 will offer cross-play for players on Windows 10 and the Xbox One throughout the story mode. Due to unfortunate reasons, cross-play will not be making its way onto the multiplayer mode.

Many new challenges, such as Danger Sign Jumps, Convoys, and Drift Zones, will also be coming to the game, along with many new showcase events. Also making a return is the ability to race against zeppelins and powerboats, much like the racing against crop dusters or trains in Forza Horizon 2

Among more new features to the game, Microsoft will also be integrating its Groove Music platform into the game allowing players to listen to their own music. It will also be a part of Microsoft’s Play Anywhere program, meaning that if you have a copy of the game on the Xbox One, you will also have it for the PC, and vice versa.

Three editions of the game have been announced, the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Ultimate Edition. The Standard Edition will include the base game and a special pre-order bonus car tied to participating retail outlets. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, the pre-order bonus car, VIP membership, as well as the Forza Horizon 3 Motorsport All-Stars Car Pack. Lastly, the Ultimate Edition will include everything from the Deluxe Edition along with the Forza Horizon 3 Car Pass and early access to the game.

Forza Horizon 3 will launch for the Xbox One and PC on September 23 for those that purchase the Ultimate Edition, and September 27 for any other editions.
